Steve brings his strong expertise in inbound and social media marketing, cloud computing, virtualization, SaaS, and software infrastructure to the Kusnetsky Group.
Steve is the Founder and Managing Partner of Maastary, a marketing services firm focused on helping small to medium sized businesses effectively use inbound marketing and social media to generate more and better quality leads and nurture them through to sales.
Prior to forming Maastary, Steve Garone was Director of Market and Competitive Intelligence at CA where he helped that company develop its cloud computing and SaaS strategies for its products. Steve has held a number of affiliations with industry analyst firms over the past 3 years, including Harvard Research Group where he was Director of Software and Microprocessor Technology, and Ideas International, where he was Vice President for Applications and Integration Infrastructure. Steve also founded his own company (The AlignIT Group), an IT market research and industry analyst firm focused on using sophisticated primary research techniques to help end users make better IT purchase decisions faster. Steve sold the AlignIT Group to Bitpipe (which was eventually acquired by TechTarget), and was employed by both firms to build a market research practice and apply his methodologies to new customer-focused initiatives.
Steve has also worked for Sun Microsystems as a Chief Software Technical Strategist, as Program Vice President at IDC, and has held product marketing and engineering positions at Cadre Technologies, Digital Equipment Corporation, GTE, and RCA.
Steve currently serves on the MIT Enterprise Forum's Marketing and CEO Services Committees, is a coordinating coach with Babson College's Coaching for Leadership and Teamwork Program, and is also a judge for the Software and Information Industry Association’s CODIE Awards.
Steve earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (now Polytechnic University), his Master of Science and Electrical Engineer degrees from M.I.T., and his MBA from Babson College.
