Nutanix has recently announced a new version of its software. This announcement includes:
- A new version of Acropolis 4.6, it’s enhanced version of KVM virtual machine software technology, designed to improve performance.
- An improved version of its Acropolis App Mobility Fabric (AMF) to reduce virtual machine software/hypervisor lock-in and make it more easily possible for enterprises to move workloads from VMware’s vSphere to Acropolis and back again.
- Cross-hypervisor backup and recovery tools allowing workloads to be backed up and recovered across VMware vSphere and Nutanix Acropolis environments.
- Prism Pro, a data center automation solution tool. This tool was designed to add machine intelligence capabilities making operations management simpler.
Nutanix also pointed out that this new software technology is compatible with its current hyper-converged server appliances. Customers having a support contract will automatically receive this software in the next update cycle.
Kusnetzky Group thinks this announcement will make Nutanix’s customers happy. The performance improvements, new operations automation features and the ability for customers to move VMware vSphere workloads to Acropolis and back again are likely to be enticing to customers using competitors’ technology.
